newbie here. Just bought a 2002 civic cpe EX , factory alarm..that i hate.
how do i disable..or turn of chirping every time i shut/open door.. or auto locking ..heck i just dont want the alarm on ..i cant even get in and out at the gas station (which isnt often thanks to this great car) without two chips on shutting the door and 3 chirps on opening it...every single time!?!

no manual available. Any help appreciated.

Thats not a factory alarm if it "chirps"
Get under the dash and have a look!

 

even aftermarket alarms can have the chirp removed. You just have to know which one you have and how to program it

 

well i did a search and all i found was 98 alarm disable when battery dead, along with 2000 alarm disable for battery dead or something..nothing that applied to me.


thanks guys for the replies..i stopped at best buy and the installer told me it was factory because the honda key fob operated it.

have no instructions or anything.

 

okay what i found on google is that my alarm is in automatic mode and that is what is pissing me off. I also found this:

which tells me how to move it to manual mode.
i did this which WORKED and now it is TOTALLY cool !!!!!!!!
