Yeah you will just have to program it with your car. I had this same problem awhile back. Im going to go dig through some old posts. So in other words yes it will hopefully work, just let me find the post with the instructions on how to program it with your car.

edit: do this

Did you try programming the remote to the car?
turn key to on position
press the lock button on the remote
turn the key off
turn the key on press the lock button on the remote
turn the key off
turn the key on and press the lock button on the remote
turn the key off
turn the key on press the lock button on the remote (by now you should hear the locks cycling which means it is in programming mode)
press the lock button on your other remotes (the car can remember up to three)

also when you do this
make sure both doors are closed
make sure you do this quickly as it won't work if you do it slowly

if you have a 96-98 Civic the factory radio must be installed (this does not apply to 99-00)

I have bought 2 different remotes from ebay and both work slash are working flawlessly. The first one broke when some tard threw my keys up in the air. This one has been going over a year and the batteries are dying but still good.

for the cost o fjust geting a OEM keyless entry remote you can go ahead and spend some more money and get a alarm with keyless entry. protect your car FTW

yep. as long as the car has power locks you can add any time of aftermarket keyless entry unit. its not plug and play so if your not sure about wiring then have a alarm shop wire up a alarm system.
