Default New audio system for 1997 Civic

I've had this car for about a year now and I've been thinking about getting a new audio system for it. I'm looking for a decent audio system, a cd player with usb and maybe some new speakers. What are some good quality brands for it?

JL IS good stuff, but you pay for it. You're also paying for what (if I'm not mistaken) is a frikkin' SWEET warranty

Let's not get into a pissing match about brands. Equipment is just part of the final sound. A huge percentage is the actual install. Throw in a bunch of great equipment pieced together, installed, and set up by someone not knowing what the hell he's doing, and it won't sound as good. Take some less-expensive equipment, plan out the entire system before removing a single panel, deaden the car, iron out the driver mounting locations, spend a ton of time getting all your crossover / level / time alignment settings just right, and it will almost always sound a ton better than the other system.

Headunit (CD PLAYER): Pioneer. Going to be your best choice. loads of options and excellent sound quality.

Speakers: I would say whatever you want to play with. don't buy speakers with over a 30w rms if your not going to run an amp.

Stay away brands: Roadmaster, Schoshe, Visonik, Low end Lanzar, Sony (Good HU's, Bad Speakers), Power Acoustic (poor sound quality)

Recommended brands: Pioneer, Alpine, Powerbass, Kicker, Polk, Rockford Fosgate, Infinity, Cadence, Kenwood...

Best Budget Brands: Planet Audio, JVC, Cadence, Pioneer, Polk
