Default Oh shoot... I think I'm having some electrical problems.

Even in songs without hard bass hits, and not turned up ear-splittingly loud, my lights dim quite a bit. Now I know my other Honda's did this too or maybe I just wasn't paying attention, but I don't remember it being like this unless it was LOUD on a hard hitting song.

I designed my system so that it would be pretty basic and have only enough power so that it doesn't exceed the stock electrical system's capacities (well, at least not too much, I don't run my stereo to full capacity anyhow)

I have a Kenwood Excelon amplifier with a Diamond Audio D310 and a newer Pioneer headunit (but I have the whole thing adjusted so the proper lowpass/highpass and EQ settings for both sub and speakers are dialed in) and the system including the headunit is running around 550 RMS watts I believe. But the thing is that I do have the sub in a sealed box so the sub is turned up a little bit...

Still, when I turn on a song loudly, I can see the volt readout go down to 12 volts every time the bass hits even when the car is at 1500 to 2000 RPM. Is that normal?

dude man, you need a freakin' capacitor if you are that worried about the lights.

A capacitor should help the dimming of the lights. It will draw less power from the battery and alternator, meaning the battery and alternator can power the lights better since the amp and subs will be drawing power from the cap. I have a 5 farad and it helps quite a bit

regrounding works wonders, it did wonders for my car startin and also my lights dimming, and all i did was the batter. If you are still using the OEM grounding, just get a piece of like 2 gauge wire, sand off a big piece of steal and re-ground the battery, it works awesome.

Capacitors help too, but the ground was a cheap, easy thing to do. Check the DIY section, i think Moogly just did a custom grounding DIY
