What is this? i found this plug in the back of the stock stereo....is this any importance to me when i install my new deck?? i have a 97 civic dx 4dr, and i was also wondering how to mount my new deck in the civic, so it doesn't just flop around.

i dont know of the plug seeing as i cant see it, BUT, its coming out so dont worry about it, installinga new deck is easy as long as you have the right tools. you will need a new wire harness and a new deck holder to hold you head unit in place. now from the way your talking, i can see your new at it. just take it to an audio place, have them do it, its pretty cheap these days. enjoy, and show pics!

 

well do you know at least what wires go to what on a 97 civic dx 4dr?
i'm not really new to this, but it's my first car that had a plug like this....

That plug is for a cd changer. If you look I bet your trunk is pre-wired for a changer.

 

or it had a tape deck up top and a cd player right above the cup holders

 

Do you have factory keyless entry. Cuz if you do, and its the stock deck, your gonna have to shove your old deck behind your dash. I'd take it somewhere if I were you. Save yourself the stress and spend 45 bucks.
