A mono amp has different circuitry than other amps......they're usually made just for bass or running subs. But if you do get a 2 channel (that's what i have, and i just bridged it) it should have a low pass/ full/high pass filter and just use that....of course you probably know that lol

yeah thanks.. i think i get all that stuff lol.
Anyways, i popped by a local car audio store, and the guy was a bit of a tool. But anyways, he suggested I buy efx subs and amp. dont remember any models or whatever, but the set up sounded solid in the store, but ive never heard of efx making subs and amps lol... Ive used their wiring before, but today was the first ive heard of their subs lol.
So just wondering what you guys have heard about efx? I can get 2 12's and an amp from them at like 950 is what he quoted from the store, so probably cheaper online somewhere..
He said they were a solid name, and would be great quality, but like I said before, he was a tool. I dont think he knew much more than me lol. Just trying to push their stock.
So yeah. Anyones thats had any experience, how were they!! lol.
Thanks

Dude dont buy it....that sounds like a huge ripoff. You could even buy two Type R's and a really nice amp NEW for that much. Or buy a NEW Rokford T1 and a good amp to push it. or buy two Infinity Kappa Perfects and a great amp NEW.

How much bass do you really want?

Ok yeah, i really thought they would be trash.

Ive been searching lots today, and I like the type r's they seem like a really good bang for your buck.
Anyways, been doing some ebaying, and came up with these listings. Im pretty sure this amp should be perfect for two type r's 12", but you guys are the smart ones.

amp:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/HIFONICS-BRUTUS-B...1%7C240%3A1318

subs:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/2-ALPINE-SWR-1222...1%7C240%3A1318

i think those should work...

lemme know if those would work together, and if thats a good way to go or not!

Thanks again, you guys know your stuff.

Thumbs up

well with that setup you will be pushing 1100watts at 2 ohms thats alot you really dont need that much but if thats what you want those are good choices your going to whant to invest in high grade wire kit with a capacitor i recommend tsunami this is the amp kit i use and this kit is awsome i love it you can use 1 or 2 amps so when you upgrade your high and mid range speakers you will be all set.you can buy it on ebay for $110.00bucks free shiping have fun.

Any wiring kit that comes with a capacitor is reason enough to avoid that wiring kit!

i would steer away from capacitors. They aren't the safest thing around. Of course they can be used safely but I wouldn't put one in my car.....and about the amp, I'd spend the $40 more to get something like a Kenwood Excelon X1200M 2400W Mono Power Amplifier (i have an excelon 2 channel). That's just cause i have no idea if Hifonics makes good stuff.

For the wiring kit you're gonna need at least a 4 gauge ground and power cable. Use some pretty thick speaker wire too like 10 guage.

So what size R's are you getting? and do you know how to install everything?

Capacitors.....meh, just don't touch opposites and READ how to install one, or it could be painful. and they build up a charge of you just leave them sitting around....that sort of thing.....but then using 2/4 gauge power wire can be pretty dangerous too....
