yea and thanks a lot.

now im was curious, as far as installation. is there any way to pop out the plastic piece right under my radio (what i mean is that space filling box where another unit (tape player) could have gone) because if i could just pop out this empty box then i could get right to the back of the radio and it would save me a lot of trouble messing with the head unit... any thoughts?

dont even mess with the rca to 1/8 inch plug get the periphereal ipod integration kit for the car. it will charge the ipod and you can control it directly from the stock head unit and its real simple to install its as simple as finding power ground and remote power the rest is all just plug and play between your factory harness. you will need the peripheral pxdp and the peripheral pxhhd1.

ok, im not going to do that, because i have a very tight budget, and $130 is just not in the cards. Plus i already have a very nice FM modulator that im gonna charge through. It will be mounted and charged through the modulator that i already own and then ill just play the sound through the 1/8 plug.

So back to my original question, i am trying to access the back of the stereo hopefully without removing the entire head unit. I was hoping to just remove the paneling below the head unit contained the cig lighter plug and then just reach up behind the head. how do i remove this paneling?

Nope you need to remove the bottom three dash pieces, its not hard, theres manuals out there showing you how to do it.

Just an update, i got the PIE $40 system (http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piehon98aux.html) and i removed the 3 plastic peieces surrounding the shifter. In the end everything worked awesome and i am 100% satisfied with the results.
Thanks to all for the advice.
