Default rear speakers

hey all, i just installed a hu and front speakers, but my civic cx only has front speakers, i was wondering how i should mount some rear speakers in the car. Should i use a box or something, or is there stock mounts? and how hard would it be to run the cables from these speakers to the front at the hu wire harness? Im confident in my soldering and splicing skills now so any suggestions here will be helpful, i dont want subs right now, just a basic 4 speaker setup

You can either use the boxes, or cut out a place for them to fit. For this you might want to consult a shop, but if you are pretty good with a Saws All, you could just butcher yourself a little 6.5" setup in the back. Sometimes the boxes the speakers come in give you a diagram that you can trace and cut out, or you can eyeball it.

Just cut it less then you would need, and sand it down as you need to. You can mount them under the back pannel or drop them down into it, which would probably be better so you can use the speaker's dust covers and make it look clean.

I am not that sure on what the deck looks like, if you can send a pic of the trunk and the back I might be able to paint in some diagram.

well damn you never said it was a hatchback...lol....that kinda changes things up a bit,you dont have somewhere on the sides in the hatch that you could make custom holes for some 6 1/2's???

Pics will help a ton.

Even if you don't have a ton of room to deal with, even after drilling or cutting holes, you can get a few different versions of "shallow mount" 6.5's, that will take about 30% less mounting depth to mount, for those tight squeeze jobs.

I am sure you can find a place for a 6.5, if not a 6x9. The 6.5's overall take up less space, and only sacrafice a small amount of sound. A nice set of 4 6.5's could be a nice sound in any car.

Alpine was selling a set once, for about 600.00 on crutchfield, it was 4 type S 6.5's, a type S 10" sub, a 250watt Alpine amp/box, and a nicer Apline head unit. I would have loved to get that set. I would have if I had seen it sooner, split the 6.5's between my car and hers.
