Default Speaker Question

Ok, I'm I tad confused about replacing my in car speakers. The previous owner installed some ****ty Sony Xplod speakers in the rear deck, and I think I blew one of them out (they are making a whining sound when high pitched sounds play). Anyways, say I wanted some Infinity 6x9s...does the ohms load or the impedance play any role in the interior speakers? Like do the speakers I buy need to have a certain ohms rating? Also, in the future I'm planning on buying new speakers for the front also...again, do I need to worry about ohms? I'm planning on hooking an amp up to the interior speakers also...

One last question: If I do end up amping my interior speakers, that would put me up to 1 subwoofer, and 2 amps. Will I need a better alternator to power all this, or will it work fine? I have a friend with a Chrysler LHS that has 2 subs and a high powered amp and when the subs hit all the lighting on the car (inside and out) pulsate. I do NOT want my car to do that, so will my current alternator be fine?

Only 4 ohm speakers are suitable to connect directly to the head unit (stock or aftermarket). This goes for front or rear. Most speakers are 4 ohm. If you go to 2 ohm speakers you must use an amp rated for 2 ohms.

6x9 speakers are harder to fit in and many say they don't sound as good as 6" rounds. If you want more bass you should go to a subwoofer system.

So if I use 2 ohm speakers for the rear I need to use 2 ohm speakers for the front also? Do the 2 ohm speakers NEED to be amped to work (can't just be powered by the head unit) ?

You could have 4 ohm fronts and 2 ohm rears. You must use an amp for any 2 ohm speakers in the system.

Most amplifiers can run down to 2 ohms no problem, and many amplifiers can take a sub and speakers simultaneously.
As for your ohm rating, just make sure that you hook up 2 ohm speakers to the first two channels and the 4 ohm to the other, don't have a 4 ohm on channel one and a 2 ohm on channel two, you're asking for POSSIBLE performance troubles.

As for your pulsating lights, depends solely on your car.
I BELIEVE your car has a 75 amp alternator.
75 amps can take a total of about 1100 watts (but this is including engine/heater/lights/washers/etc).
If you can keep your whole system in a 500 watt RMS range with everything turned on you'll be fine. It really depends on how loud you play your music too. I have an average listening volume decibel rating of 115 (not good for my ears :/) and my light slightly flicker under about 900 rms on my 75 amp alternator.
So if you can keep it to 500 or 600 watt at most with some accesories on you'll be fine.
Worst case scenario you have to buy a higher output alternator and maybe a battery, but otherwise gettinga cap (for SLIGHT light flicker) will do the job, and often a second battery will help. I plan to get a second battery soon, I don't like capacitors.

The last post is some good advice however, a cap is a temp. fix to a perm. problem get an extra battery get a dry cell(if it is a true dry cell it can be mounted any way sideways upsidedown any way) the stinger battery is a great battery it is what i sell at my shop and run in my car they have direct replacment batteries for hondas under the hood i think it is the stinger spv85 i think i have that and another that one is enough

about the speakers there is not going to be hardlyany speakers on the market unless u spend some real money that are not 4ohms so u will be safe and, do not run 2 ohms and 4 into one amplifer not safe will burn it up

any question more write back I am cert. by over 10 companys in installation and sales of there equitment so i will try to help as much as i can
