I recently upgraded my stereo system on my Honda Civic 2004 LX with a new ALpine iDA-305 Digital media receiver:

Obviously I wasn't looking for spectacular results, but the sound quality has greatly improved and I am happy with it. I just wanted some advice as I have heard that I may need to upgrade my speakers next "because stock paper cones probably won't last too long under 45 watts of continuous power." Is this true and what speakers would you recommend?

the stock speakers are made for about 17 RMS

45 RMS still isn't enough for most good aftermarket speakers. Maybe look into some type R's

what's your budget?

 

I don't know if 45 watts RMS is going to be enough for some Type Rs because I found mine to be horribly inefficient.
