Default sub help

hi everyone

tomorrow i am buying an alpine type r 12" to go with this amp.

to get 800w to the sub, should i buy the dual 2ohm or dual 4ohm?

what kind of box should i get?
i was lookin at these:

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7523.html
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7521.html

one last question,
what's the difference between ported and bandpass enclosure?

Thanks in advance,
Jon

i would say the first box.....

with a bandpass box they need to be setup FOR THAT EXACT SUB....
and the 3rd box doesnt say the displacement.... but its like 2.8 before displacement... BUT i dont know about the port displacement....

alpine suggest like 1.7 or 1.8displacemnt

and with that amp you need the dual 4ohm version and wire the sub with both + together and then both - terminals together to the amp... preaty simple...

You're gonna want a Dual 4 ohm sub, if you want to wire it up to runa 2 ohm load.

If you get a dual 2 ohm, you can wire it to 1 ohm, but you would have to have a 1 ohm stable amp, your only other option is 4 ohms, which cuts your amp's power output.

Get a single sub with a dual 4, and any 2-ohm stable amp will push it, but get a mono amp, or you will have to find a 2 channel thats 2 ohm stable in bridged mode. Thats alot tougher to do.

The amp you have picked out should rock out, it's mono too, so you can get almost all of those 800 watts all day long. I would say you will be pounding whatever box you put it in!

post some pics when you get it all in, looks like a nice setup!

And as for the box, I think option 1 there was the best choice, if your not going sealed. Ported will give you some all out punchy bass, should rattle your bones. I never liked bandpass boxes too much, had a dual 12 setup once in a bandpass, it wasn't half as loud as just a standard box setup!
