Did you forget to hook the RCA's back up to the head unit? or are you running a H-Lo converter from the back speakers?

Not likely.
All things being equal, the simplest solution is usually the correct one. Which means look at all of the dumb stuff first before you start replacing cables and ripping stuff out.
Is the fader centered? Do you have a Sub output on anything and is it turned on? Is the bass turned up? Do you have the cables in the right connections (input, output, highs, lows)? Gains up and crossovers set correctly? Maybe the cables just came undone when you pushed the head unit back in.
If all of this and all the other simple stuff is Ok, then try those cables to a known good amp, and then try the amp on a known good input.

ya its a pioneer some old one but i know it works, i just tried a different amp that i know that works and i heard a pop on the subs when i plugged it in, so i know the amp and subs work but yet the rca cables from the deck to the amp im still suspecting that.
Try checking continuity on your rca's
Set your meter to continuity and touch one probe to one end of the rca and the other probe to the other side. Make sure when you do this you touch the center pins then test the sheild. You may have a break.
Also you could hook up your volt meter to the outputs on your deck make sure your testing for AC . then turn on your radio your voltage should fluctuate with the music. If not your outputs are bad.

i had the same problem with my old set up, when i wiggled the rca that plug into the amp, it would go on and off depening where i held it so i bought new rca cables, well, turns out that the rca cables were fine but it was where the rca plung into my amp that was screwed up, it was a ****ty amp so i took it apart and did some surgery and got it working, later on it would screw up again..
