Like some H.U.'s have to have the ant. plugged in to work. Used as a ground.

This is never the case, if your deck wont work till you plug in the antenna you have a bad ground on the black wircoming out of the deck and it needs to be fixed instead of grounding through the antenna.

And remington. Sometimes you can save a but load of money by cracking open a deck, amp or crossover. I don't know how many times people bring in their old stuff and tell me I can have it that it's blown. I crack it open do some resoddering or replace something small charge them a few bucks and they got a good piece of equip again and they didn't have to pay $100-$500. But sometimes it is just better to let well enough alone and toss the equip (Like if it says explode on it.)
