helloo i just swapped a gsr into my 99 ex and everything is working fine but the tach doesnt seem to be working..

i checked all the wiring diagrams and there is a blue wire coming off the distributor that says that is a tach wire but there wasnt one on the d16y8..

any ideas?

um yeah its the blue wire and it the y8 should have it to

the y8 should have it?
where do i connect the blue wire coming off the distributor?

It comes from one of the pins on the ICM module inside the distributor. It will be the only wire connected to that pin. Look at your old distributor to compare. I think all the ICMs are the same.

You need to take the rotor off and take the plastic plate out to see the ICM. Be sure to put the plastic plate back in when you're done.
