I am not real sure how crutchfield does it, but it looks like they give you a coupon for installation at some fine retailers, you will have to check into that.

Or you could try to find a match of your speakers at Best Buy, or a place that does their own free installs. One thing I can say for honda, is that they built their cars Very very well, which means they are also very very hard to navigate when you begin taking things apart.

I would always suggest to people, if they have extra money, or if its free with the purchase, they allow someone that's trained to install these electronics to do it. Think of it this way, you might rip, tear, or break something that their insurance will repair, but you would end up kicking yourself in the rear if you did it yourself, knowing you could have done it elsewhere.

I speak from experience, I went through 2 dash bezels trying to get my cd player in the first go around, if I had read up I would have learned how hard the install was, and taken it somewhere.

If you want something that will sound killer in that civic, without paying retail for brand new JL and Alpine, check this out: https://www.hondacivicforum.com/m_341662/tm.htm

PM me, the prices are negotiable. I need the money to save for my new car

JLguy:
thakns for the offer, but with the type-r running $130, and the JL amp $300...i think ill just stick with those.
it sure is a tempting offer tho
if i had the cash i would probably buy it all off you, but there enlies the problem.

Stumasters:
okay...a place in my area installs everything for just $1, but id probably have to buy the speakers there.ill definately have somebody else install them, but ill shop around a bit.

badb0ybilly:
yeah....i was hoping it wasnt true.
oh well...my friend's cousin works in an audio place across town, but i was reluctant to go there because everything is so expensive there. maybe he'd give me a good deal, idk.
like i said, ill shop around.

im just glad i know exactly what i need so nobody will screw me over too badly [8D]

thanks again for all the help, guys!

what amp do you recommend for my speakers?
i have searched alpine's and pioneer's website for a 75x4 amp and they're all priced ~$300
is that a fair price?
would it be a bad idea to buy one off ebay or craigslist?

ok man good choice about the type r. very good sub. i have 2. but really, i would get the mrd-605. its a very nice v12 series amp and thats what would go the best with it. digital everything, light up blue....i still wish i would have gotten both my amps in a v12 series instead of the vpower. dont get in a hurry, save and get what YOU really want. and also, i like JL too but its just too much$$.

A decent 4 channel amp that supplies at least 75-100 watts for each speaker will probably be around 250-300 bucks, you can find one cheaper though.

Shop slow, find something decent, then look around until you find it even cheaper :-) Just buy from someone thats been in the business for a while, and offers warranty, or some sort of customer service for all their products.

I like alpine amps also, if you wanted to stick to one brand, a good Apline amp will probably go a long way, but I still like JL, thats what I am going to go with.

@jhsplaya08:
yeah..my thoughts exactly.
is the m605 rated at 600x1 RMS or 600x1 peak?

ehh..either way ill probably save up for the JL...ill have to talk to some of my friends to see if i can get anyone to hook me up with a good deal.

thanks again for all the help...i hate going to stereo shops, even if i know the people running them, because im afraid of getting ripped off.

Newest thing Alpine has, listed as the MRP-M650, It's a V-power amp.

I can't find another one online, didn't look that many places though.

This amp is 600Watts x 1 at 2ohms, so 300 per sub RMS. Pretty decent power, and it's Class D, thats what you need, a Class D mono amp, less heat, more power.

Here is a link to a site with the JL 500/1 for $399.00, just 50 bucks more. Here's a link with some reviews, on C-net, a trusted site, and if you notice, SonicElectronix sells it, they are a good site. It also sells on ebay for around 350, in a few months, they might be a little lower, just depends on the market.

I like the Alpine also though, it's all up to what you are looking to spend. The Alpine is rated at 600 watts, might get you a tad more power for your money.
