If you were to look around you would find out pretty easy. You could have search places like..... I dunno maybe the DIY on the subwoofer build!? [&:]

In the future look around. Its uber easy to find answers here.

Until then, 3/4 MDF is the wood you want to use. They generally come in 5x8 sheets for about $20-$25 on average.

Use nothing less dense than 3/4" MDF. Particleboard and plywood are not good substitutes.

MDF is a great start for building a box. You also need to design it right though. To make a car box, you'll probably need to add a specific amount of sound insulating material to a specific size box so that it doesn't need to be huge. Honestly, unless you want to spend a week reading up on speaker building, I'd just buy one or copy one exactly.

If you build one, just make sure it won't leak air where it shouldn't and make SURE all the joints are solid and won't vibrate. Remember that the surfaces of the MDF peel off easily so only glue angles or ends. Also, pre-drill any screwholes into the ends of the MDF or it will split.
