with a bandpass you will get deeper cleaner louder sound, i have basically a free sterio aswell and when i put the 2 jl 10,s in a regular ported box i get more punch and a crappyer sound but the bandpass just makes everything shake

^ Sorry but i have to correct you on this one.

The BEST sounding box is SEALED. It gives you tight, quality bass. Bandpass and ported boxes are SLOPPY. In a hatchback a single 12 inch sub in a sealed box will sound nice. Not sloppy, and it will be decently loud because it is literally right behind your seat. I have a coupe with a single 12 inch infinty, and if i turn it up its SQ and SPL will pwn most dual subwoofer "systems"

You need to determine a goal. If you just want something that SLAMS and dont care about quality, get bandpass, and have loud sloppy bass.
If your want something that will bump a little and sound crisp and clean, get a sealed enclosure.
Stay away from ported boxes, ports are meant to be finely tuned for each application, and getting good ported box isnt cheap. And personally i still say they sound sloppy. My opnion? Sealed all the way.
