Default Clean/Replace Carpet?

I just bought a 94 Civic Lx with 120K miles on it for $2100. The interior of this cars smells like crap and it is very dirty. I am fairly certain that the smell is coming from the dirty carpet. I tried cleaning it with carpet cleaner and rags but I just can't get the stains/smell out. I'm thinking about either completely replacing the carpet with one from stockinteriors.com or just taking my carpet out and cleaning it better and putting it back in.

If I did take mine out to clean it, then what would be the best way to get it clean? I don't want to dye it another color. Should I just save the hassle and install a fresh new carpet for $125?

If you're going to tear it all out anyway, I would definitely replace it. While it's out do your best to clean everything under the carpet before putting the new stuff in.

Yeah, strip the interior completely. It's a lot of work but it'll help the smell. Scrub everything front and back, replace the carpet with new stuff, shampoo the seats. If there's fabric on the door panels, clean that too.

Better replace it at least it will save sometime and effort and it smells good like a new car.
