Painting Rims???
I was looking at these silver rims and I really like the shape of them but I dont want silver rims. There is a really good deal on them and I was wondering if it was hard to paint the rims yourself. I was looking for more of a flat black look all around the rim because I just love that look. Anyone with some experiance with this would be nice or some general does and dont's. Thanks!!!
MXS did a great write up on painting. painted my old wheels with it and came out great. its all in the prep work, painting is very easy..

ok ya i read up on some other forums, the big discussion seems to be whether or not to use the primer. I plan on painting these the day i buy them. This will just make it easier to paint and dont have to worry about the tire. anyways i was wondering if i should get the primer? and would i still have to sand the rims down if they are brand new??? thanks
Just use a 600 or 800 grit wet/dry automotive sandpaper you just want to rough up the surface a bit (microscopicly) in order for the primer to have something to grab onto. Take the time, read the tutorial in the DIY section on this forum. Should have no problems, and you should end up with a good paint job.
