rust spots?

Default rust spots?

whats a good rust protector to use on my car...small spots and its winter now. dont have the money right now for professional to do it. but dont want it to spread throughout the winter...thanks

well do you want it to look good? if its just surface rust and you want to get it through the winter id say sand off the surface rust and spray it with some primer.

If it's surface rust, just put some nice wax on it and keep as much salt off it as you can. Spray it off any chance you get at one of those self spray-and-wash places. That's the cheap effective way out.

i would say... sand the spots if there arent many of them. and spray some sort of primer over them. then hit it with rustoleum paint to protect it. when you go to fix it, or have it fixed. remove all of the paint by sanding again so the painter can do their thing the right way from a blank canvas.
