Default 3* advance

I don't know if this the right section to post about ignition timing, but O well. I heard that advancing your timing 3* will not only give you more power at the high end, but also at the low end. How is that possible? I thought advancing places more of your hp at the high end while retarding does the opposite. As long as it works, I'm fine with it. Just wondering the science behind that.

We need an ignition section !

This would be a "tuning and ecu" issue I suppose, but anyway...

I wouldn't run my DD at 3* advanced. If you have access to 93 octane then maybe, or if you want to run octane booster for a night at the track then maybe, but the 2Hp gain isn't worth the risk of detonation on a daily basis.

Advancing 2-3 degress will give you a little bit of lowend, while retarding will give you the opposite. I've advanced mine, and now have to use 93 octane. I also have a fpr set at higher than stock, so no chance of detonation. You'll notice minimal gains, but its a free way of gaining a little.
