Default Alternator?

If my interior lights (and glow gauges) kind of flicker when the engine is running, but not when the engine is stopped, is that a problem with the alternator? should I be worried? I think it's always done this but I never really thought about it before today.

Hmm, flicker? or do they dim when at idle and get brighter when you rev?

When it's idling they kind of pulse... um, I'll have to check tomorrow, I don't know if they get brighter or stop flickering when I rev the engine.

When I rev the engine they still seem to flicker. They don't flicker all the way OFF or anything.

It is probably just a ground then. If it was the alternator the lights would get brighter with the rpm's. Unless someone knows something I don't.

Bad ground, eh? Why would they stop flickering when I shut off the engine?

This seems to be affecting the dome light, the map lights, and the glow gauges (which I hope aren't the problem because I don't think I want to take the gauge cluster apart {although, 3 months ago, I didn't want to take anything apart!}).

I would remove the battery connections and clean them up with a wire brush. I always cover the connections after cleaning with a thin layer of grease to stop any further oxidation.
Also, make sure your ground is good on the chassis. It wouldn't hurt to add a few more grounds if you have some good thick and flexible wire (braided).

and get the battery and alternator tested at a parts house. they will usually do it on the car for free.
