Hi all. I am new to the forum.

My question is regarding the relationship between the ECU and the MAP sensor. Assuming that the voltage reading after removing the MAP sensor is very low (less than 1 Volts) and approximately the same reading at the computer. The remedy according to the Service Manual is to replace the ECU with one that is known to be good and if the symptoms and/or codes go away, then you know the ECU is bad. I guess if the symptoms remain you have to go elsewhere, but the service manual does not say where.

Does anyone know what internal components in the ECU could be causing this? My ECU board looks very clean (no visible leaking capacitors or burn marks). It's the original USDM P30 ECU in a 94 Del Sol DOHV Vtec.

I got codes: 3 (MAP SENSOR) and 7 (TPS SENSOR)

 

ok, you do know it is possible to get those plugs backwards, both the tps, and map sensor have the same type of plug, i would check it.

 

The connectors are correct for their sensors.

When measuring the voltage to the TP sensor the votage readings were also under 1 volt (.11 at the connector and
.10 at the computer). I also did the ground check for both sensors and they were ok.

All indications are that it might be the computer, but since I don't have access to a known good computer, I have to resort to buying one and perhaps have it react the same way.

I guess Honda wants you to bring the car in (service fee) or purchase a new computer which you may not need. You would think there would be a better way of determining if a computer is really bad.
