Your ECU is behind your glovebox. What do you have done that you need an EMS?

well i am putting a new turbo in, and new 02 sensors, and i want to change the air/fuel ratio, i mean a stand alone EMS i hear is good ****, im used to old american muscle so i am not familiar with the whole computer concept. You got any advice, is it possible to just go with a piggyback system or what? I mean which would provide the best results?

Ok EMS is your best option if you have the money to purchase it. You prolly could get away with a piggyback but an EMS would give you much more gains and provide better stability. AEM is your only option. it runs between 1700-2000, plus I suggest a couple hours on a dyno w/ a pro tuner.

any idea on how much that runs for? have you heard anything about a company called megasquirt? They make to be stand alone EMS but for the fraction of the cost.

Yeah the problem is most EMS companies make EMS systems for OBD1 not OBD2 and definately not OBD2b. AEM is pretty much your only option in an EMS it'll run you about $1700. YOu could do more research about this megasquirt company but make sure that their EMS will work with OBD2b. And the AEM EMS for the 7th gen won't get rid of your stock ECU.

I thought the stand alone EMS do replace your whole ECU

Not for our car. AEM's EMS needs our stock ECU to run a couple things; don't recall exactly what they are offhand and I think you can do without them.
