ECU for my 91 civic
#2
needs to be an automatic, the next digit after p28 needs to be 51-99
you will also need to convert you harnees from obd0 to obd1 to plug up the ecu and also you will need to change your 1 wire o2 sensor to a 4 wire o2 sensor.
keep in mind if any cel vtec wont engage

Ok i got the p28 and the obd2 to obd1 jumper harness. the thing im trying to get figured out is if the wiring that came with my motor going to fit with everything. i know the jumper harness is going to let my ecu fit but as for my DPFI to MPFI conversion, how will i go about that. i still have the original DX wiring in the car but also the one thats with the D16y8 which is why i bought the jumper harness because the wires that are from the D16 are obd2 which dont fit with the p28 ecu. so i converted it to obd1. but confused right now as on what to buy to complete the swap.
things ive got so far. *but remember its automatic Dx*
p28 ecu
obd2a to obd1 jumper harness
motor came with complete wiring harness

you will need some extra wire to re wire your ecu harness, the harness now is setup for a 2 fuel injector system, and you now have a 4 fuel injector motor, so you need to rewire some, also you current system is setup without a cam position sensor, and your new motor has a cam position sensor so you will need to run the wires to the ecu. also your current system is wired for a 1 wire oxygen sensor so you will need to wire in the new 4 wire oxygen sensor. and the last thing is your current system is wired for nonvtec so you will need to wire up the new system for vtec.
so yes you will need to buy some rolls of wire. you will also need the little wire/pins that go into the ecu so you can add the new wires.
no you dont need a obd2 to obd1 jumper harness.
you need a obd0 (since your current system is obd0) and it converts your ecu plugs into obd1 so you can plug up your p28 ecu.
rywire.com sells the jumper harness.
this would be soooooooooo much easier if you would just buy a d16a6 its from your generation civic 88-91 civic or crx si, all you will need to do is drop it in and convert the dpfi to mpfi and you can get the pm6 ecu and it will plug right up to your car with no extra wiring needed.
here is the wiring diagram on howto convert dpfi to mpfi
here is my 91 hatch when i put the d16a6 motor in it and rewired mine from dpfi to mpfi

which wiring are you reffering to when your saying i need obd0. the one in the vehicle right now or the one that is with the motor? because they told me the one that came with the motor is obd2. its a 97 D16y8 motor. it already had the harness. thats what i was reffering to when i said getting a obd2 to obd1 harness.

i am refering to the one under the dash that the ecu plugs up to, they sell a plug and play jumper harness that plugs your current obd0 ecu plugs into a obd1 ecu plug so you can plug up the p28 ecu. as for the motor harness i suggest using the old harness and just adding the extra wires needed to it, so everything will just plug up and make it real easy for you.

ooooooooooook now that makes alot more sense. so i guess theres no need for that wiring harness that came with the motor. Now from what your telling me, how long will the wiring with the original dx harness take? and with the dx harness, will that still be able to convert pretty easy to mpfi and fit with the 97 motor?

google dpfi to mpfi and read, its the best i can tell ya, you gotta add 4 wires to make it mpfi one wire for each injector needs to be ran to the ecu, also there is 2 wires from the distibutor (cps) that needs to be ran to the ecu, and you gotta swap the tps wires around. dont worry about the fuel injector resistor box if your gonna use the d16y8 injectors.
