Default ecu trouble

ok i have a 97'civic 5-speed manual(D16Y8 - P2P ecu) i was wondering how can you tell if your ecu is bad, and is there anyway to fix it or can any shop fix it or do you have to visit a specialty shop or do you have to just buy a new one?

you would just buy a new one. P2Ps are fairly easy to come by these days with everyone converting to OBD1. CHeck ebay

What makes you think that its bad? What are your symptoms?

well i've been visciously working on droping my idle, when the car is warmed up it idles at 1700, it also has rough starts. another problem is i got this code po117 - engine coolant temp circuit low input. my temp gauge goes up at a light and when i go it goes back down.my fans wont kick in either even with the sensor taken off. once in awhile i'l hear this ticking from my piggyback system(edelbrock turbo) and my mph gauge will pop up and down crazy. i've replaced all my sensors besides O2.
