well my camera is currently in las vegas but there is a silver box behind the kick panel that has b16a written on the front of it along with a few other numbers.

Post any and all numbers you find on the ECU.

the box has honda stamped at the top and then twice, in two different color paints, it has B16A 5607421. and at the bottom there are a couple of japanese symbols

freaking eh. so does that mean i need to acquire a new ecu in order to pass inspections?

possibly you may need the USDM ecu

though after doing more searches i have come across people that the computers read no problem even though they were JDM, and then ones that did have the computers have problems.

what about if it's an OBD1 engine/ecu... obviously an OBD2 computer/code reader/whatever wouldn't exactly work.

is there any way of telling if it is an obd1 vs. obd2? would a mechanic be able to remedy this or is this something even i could do?
