engine swap question
well then they wouldn't even be able to plug it into the obd2 code reader thing, because the plugs are different
does this appear to be appropriate: http://www.aj-racing.com/catalog/pro...?productid=102
i think it has to do with the JDM computer and to fix that you'd need an OBD1 b16a2 computer (they don't make a USDM b16a OBD0) and an OBD0-OBD1 conversion harness. I'm not sure what else you'll need for the conversion.
Though we're still not that sure what the problem is, so I wouldn't just start throwing money at it yet
I think before you do anything, try a different place to get smogged at
yeah i think i will take it to a different service station/mechanic and see what happens. i wanted to tell everyone who has been offering advice thanks a ton. you guys have been a tremendous help and have been extremely nice about it. i know i'm a rookie at this so i got to take baby steps.
from looking at the two websites below i may have an obd1 ecu, but does that seem incorrect to anyone? would an obd1 even connect to most computers at a garage/car shop?

What is the problem? You have either obd1 or obd0 jdm ecu most likley obd1 and its in an obd2 car so their readers will fit but not read the code. The ecu should control the engine fine however, so what is the problem I have this swap no problems at all.
I think the problem is that he cannot pass the state inspection because the inspector's computer cannot talk to the car's ECU.
