how many miles on timing belt?
You're absolutely right. It is extreme... and, I'm absolutely paranoid about it. I'm going to do a little research to see if there's a kevlar belt out there or something like that.
The timing belt is the only real achilies heal on a honda engine IMO. I'd feel better with a timing chain. Don't get me wrong - I'll take a honda engine over anything else out there.
I just had my current ride done with 80,000 miles on it. My father gave me the car and told me he had been "meaning to get around to that". I figured the one that was in it was 8 years old and therefore a time bomb.
I take it they recommend every 100K?

I need to get mine done. I don't know if it was done when i bought the car from the dealership. Its a 99 with 111k on it i bought it with 108k wouldn't you think they did that at the dealership before they sold it. I bought it from a honda dealership btw.
I'd check with the dealership. I'd imagine they'll have records of your car, and since it's a Honda dealership it's a good possibility that they changed it, but I would make sure.
