Default Keihin conversion...Weber?

Am still learning to navigate this forum...prod me in the right direction if needed.

I have an 83 Civic 1500 EM1 hatchback. Owned since new, 130K, running fine till about year ago when Keihin carb needed rebuild. Rebuilt the carb myself, started up but ran rough. Possibly crappy rebuild on my part or vacuum leak somewhere. Anyway, after the first of the year no longer will need emmission test (Wa State). Talked with local carb shop who said the Keihins were not that good from the first day and no one around here wants to touch them. My thoughts, after a little research, was to convert over to using Weber 32/36 downdrafts and ditching the vacuum lines.

Any thoughts or advise you can share with me? I am flexible. My kid is eyeballing this project to entice me to give to her to use at college. Thanks for the help, will share what I do with pics. Casey

Unfortunatly not many of us have experiance with carb'd civics, i know d-series.org has a pretty good section for carb'd hondas, and Honda tech also has a section for older civics like yours, hope that help.
