Default Shifting Method

Okay, so I have this '98 EX. I've tried so many different speeds in different gears, but what is the preffered way to drive it and save fuel? On the freeway it does great, but in town it's like I have to refill it every couple of days. I had an old '87 Mazda B2200 for a while and that thing was excellent on fuel. On this Civic, I try not to get the RPMs above 4000 so the VTEC don't kick in so I shift around 3000-3500 RPM. Is this wrong or what? The max RPM is 7000.

Thanks

You know, that could be the problem. It may need a full tune-up. I'll have to do that and see if it works. Lol. I'm a wee bit dumb sometimes and things completely go past me.

I do a little of both types of shifting. I have to speed and cannot do the limit. I drive sane and like a bat out of hell but no matter how I do, I still feel like I have to refill every couple of days. Perhaps it's just time for a good ol' tuneup.

That would be too easy.

Haha, I usually shift anywhere between 2,500 ~ 3,000 RPM, in town. I don't think thats too bad, I have a 01 Civic LX, and I usually last 2 weeks or a little more on a full tank. All I usually go though is to work (which is about 30 miles there and back), and school, which is about a half a mile away.

But, I'd say it definately depends how you drive, and how you shift. Sometimes I can get kinda wreckless and play around with people at the stop lights :P.
