You need to socket the ecu and that is it, you are allready obd1 and have a p28 ecu so you are good to go. All you have to do for the map sensor is buy a 3 bar map sensor or a "missing link" or map bypass valve, neither of them are expensive.

As far as the wideband sensor goes, if you are just going to use it for tuning(and plan on tuning other cars) then that would be my first choice. If you want it as an AFR gauge or don't plan on tuning other cars, then I would look into their stand alone unit. (lc-1 with the xd-1). It is a really nice gauge and is as accurate as the LM-1. The gauge itself is very thin and can be mounted pretty much anywhere. I have both units and would recommend the standalone over the LM-1 simply because it eliminates the hassle of having to get all the wires connected when tuning time come around and it allows you to monitor your AFR even after tuning. Oh, but the standalone is about 50 bucks more. Check on e-bay or these units. They sell them for a bit cheaper in some places, and still new.

I actually would like a permanent A/F gauge, but I would also like to have an option of datalogging...can't I have the gauge and the unit run off of the same o2 sensor and not have a problem?

not a problem at all. The xd-1 gauge has a push button to start and stop data logging. However, by itself you it cannot log. It would have to be connected to the lm-1 for the data logging capabilities. I run the lc-1 with the xd-1, and for loging( I haven't tried it yet) I think all you need to do is connect the output of the xd-1 to the lm-1. However, both kits come with their own O2 sensors.

would there be any benefit of knowing the o2 readings behind the cat than? Or is that stricktly emissions related crap on OBD2?

no not really. you always want to monitor before the cat as this is the true AFR coming out of your engine and not effected by the cat yet. you are suppose to get a bung(it comes with each kit) welded before the cat. You then have a plug(it comes with the kit) that you can put on in place of the O2 when you are not monitoring. For tuning, the after cat monitoring will only tell you what happens after the cat has changed your AFRs (no real information for tuning)

I see...btw can I use the wideband sensor for the ECU to run off of too? I'm not a huge fan of the ieda of having two o2 sensors hooked up and taking one out after tuning...

it does have a second output that simulates a conventional O2 sensor, but I have never tried to connect it so I am not 100% sure.
