Default Yeah, yeah another Chip question.

I have read a lot of questions and opinions about chips and I get it:

#1- you get what you pay for.

#2- Works best (if at all) with lots of mods

#3- You really need access to a tuner and dyno

But wouldn't just being able to set the V-Tec point to 4700 rpm be worth it?

You can't set the VTEC point with a cheap chip.

Even if you get a "chipped" ecu with a Jun spec chip?

I read somewhere else that just engaging the v-tec earlier wouldn't help without new fuel maps and such. Doesn't a chip do that?

How much modification is needed to benefit from a chip?

I have read various opinions on here. Somebody said that it's one of the best mods you can do for your car and others say it's a waste.

What's the dealio?

if you set the vtec point that low, even if you do it right, you will lose power from it. ther eis a spot where the big cam makes more power than the small one, and thats where you want the point. most are within 1-300 rpms of stock.

agree they factory sets it where it is for a reason, they arent a waste of time though, even if your not messing around with your vtec.
