You're using a new tranny as well as the motor swap. Where as i'm just swapping out the motor. Thanks for the dizzy info. Are you using a new harness as well because i'm trying to stick with my old '91 harness. then i might be able to keep the old dizzy hmm. What are you using for a throttle body and intake manifold?

im looking at my options now on using the old tranny because of the differences. im using the 99 intake manifold and wiring harness. the entire swap is gonna be from the 99 except for the tranny. but again, im stuck because the wiring that goes back to the cluster and stuff does not match the harness that is already installed in the 91.

new info!! wayyyyy 2 much conversions as far as obd0 to obd2. ur gonna run into hella problems on the wiring harness matching sensors up. not to mention ur gonna need a resistor box to switch from the dual point injection to multi point injection. i found the whole resistor box with wires on ebay for 50 bucks but the others on ebay didnt come with complete wires. i switched my decision to doing a mini-me swap. d16y7 with vtec head. good luck though email me with any new info if u get it to work. PEACE!!!!!!!!!!!!

yes i think you're right. Nothing seems to be able to bolt up exactly. I think Mabye I could swap the throttle bodies and keep the 96 intake manifold but stuff from the 91 probably won't fit to it. I just want a reliable motor that I can drop in my car to replace my tired neglected 1.5. Actually another 1.5 with low miles would be great! Anyone got a 1.5 DPFI with low miles for cheap? There must be lots of them out there if everyone is swapping them out for vtec's!

if you use the stock cable tranny make sure you use the flywheel and clutch that are in your car now the factory cable ones.

the distributer from a obd2 d17 has thesame bolt pattern as an obd0 91 d15 so put the engine in, put the old dpfi manifold on and put the dpfi dizzy on and it will run(if every thing is done right) there should no wiring, or ecu changes.

i have done the y7n swap on my 91 and you need to get a si wiring harness a si intake manafold and dizzy and ecu it is the easiest way to do it and you cant use the y7 manafold cuz the tb,and if you want it to work right you got to use a new dizzy or it will just keep throwing the cps code, and you need a little mpfi box of a si.o and mine is obd0

ORIGINAL: ef4life

the distributer from a obd2 d17
ummm the d17 does not use a dizzy but rather coil on plug design. ive skimmed over this a little so forgive me if i repeat others. being your using a 91 chassis i assume your using the 91 tranny which in turn you can use the 96 model clutch and pressure plate if you choose. the engine will bolt to your current transmission. i would use your current intake and exh manifold so no wiring has to be done. use your current wiring harness DO NOT swap harnesses as the newer harness WILL NOT plug into your factory harness. the dizzy is no big deal it bolts directly to the y7 head. this is the same motor i ran in my 91 si and was a great motor considering
