Im still learning and trying to understand and all help is greatly appreciated.. I have a 94 civic dx and i want to put in a b18b1 into it. How hard would this be?what would need changed? I dont quite understand the obd 1 and 2. Thanks

then get ecu harness axles mounts linkage. obd1 and obd2 is electronics. distributer and such.

 

Again, shane. You're trying to be helpful but you didn't answer any of his questions.

The swap is straight forward. You will need the B series engine/transmission/shift linkage, B series engine mounts, B series CV axles, the wiring harness, computer, etc.

Everything should bolt right in.

OBD stands for On Board Diagnostics. It's the computer code that gives you the CEL (check engine light) codes. Each version of OBD is different.

OBD0 is an older standard from somewhere in the 80s, I forget, until 1991. OBD1 was in the 1992-1995 Civics. OBD2a was in the 96-98 Civics, and OBD2b was in the 99-00 Civics.

Basically, the only real difference (other than more sensors) is that the plugs from the main harness going to the computer are different. You can buy a conversion harness to convert an OBD2a or OBD2b engine harness to OBD1. And vice versa, etc.

D series to B series is an extremely common swap. There are a great many resources on the net and on this forum.
