I have a 1.6 Vtec (D16Z). I have heard that if you get the 1.8 or 2.0 liter sohc bottom end and use the vtec 1.6 head that it can make some crazy power and still have vtec.. CAN U DO IT?

Umm yes.. you can.. but theres is no SOHC 1.8 or 20... they are B18's and B20's witch are DOHC.. Its an ls-vtec when you do it.. you can get good power.. but for the enigne lasting not so good, dependability is an on going issue..

I thought the Frankenstein swap was taking the b20 engine and swaping on the head from a b16 that way you get the 2.0 (hence the b20) but the vtec head from the b16 (which is a dohc 1.6)... then again i could be wrong but that was my impression of it

sohc heads only work on sohc blocks, dohc with dohc etc. you can take a non vtec d series sohc block and put a d series vtec head on it to make it vtec (with additional wiring etc) its called a mini-me. or you can take a b series non vtec block and mate it to a b sireies vtec head and it is called a frankenstien
