Default Hard cold start--No Codes--Have searched-

Well first off this is my first post and i am sort of a noobie to the whole Honda experience. My background is with motorcycles as i am a mechanic of 5 years. A lot of my friends have hondas so most stuff is not that new to me and neither is troubleshooting. You wont find me posting a question without first exhausting all other resources and trying some things on my own.

My problem, I am throwing no cel codes, car runs great once warm, but when you start the engine you have to give about 25-50% throttle for it to fire up. Once started, I have to keep on the gas until the engine is warm at which point she idles and runs like a dream. If you dont give it gas it will fire up briefly and then die again, no matter how many times you try.

I tried the usual suggestions from this and other forums lik plugs, wires, bled the cooling system, cleaned the IATV(was pretty dirty) and also reseted the ECU.

ANY IDEA W>T>F is goin on???

I had similar problem with my Civic 1991: hard to start when cold, fine after, although timing was set correctly.
Honda shop manual says the Coolant Temperature Sensor (TW) is the first thing to check; next are the Electronic Air Control Valve, Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor, Computer, in the order as shown. It was very frustrating to find the cause as I did the followings: set timing, add cleaner to gas tank, change fuel and air filters.
I finally took my chance to replace the TW ($30) as the checking is complicated. Luckily the problem went away and I could feel the car actually runs better than before hearing that a faulty TW can do more damage besides the starting problem.
What I don’t understand is the starting problem did not go away right after I installed the new TW, car actually did not start at all. The next morning I was about to undo my change but gave 1 more start and it’s been perfect for a week now. My guess is since ii involved the computer which needs time to reset.
I also learn not to overlook sensors which can affect the computer which can create unrelated problems, so much for “smart” things !
And on my old car, no sensor can function as originally, scary !
