My personal preferance is to lay the ground work for big gains and then make the big gains. It sounds like you want 200HP now and want to spend 4k to get there. I would rather spend the 4k to build the engine up and at a later time get a turbo that will make me 400HP. Just a different way to look at it.

Correct.. but i wouldnt mind building up my D16.. cept from what several people on here keep saying you cant get as much top end power out of the EK D series as you could with just a swap and tune from B series

That is true, the B series engines have a lot more potential than D series engines.

Not even needed. Keep the SOHC Vtec. Rods and pistons will be enough internals for 300 hp. The stock sleeves are good till about 350hp. Whoever spends 4K on 200WHP obviously has no idea what theyre doing.. 200 whp can be obtained with a 1000$ custom turbo kit, ARP headstuds, and a good tune. Stock internals.

Full Race....yes the big turbo company had a civic(lost it on the show pinks) that had a D16Z6 with stock sleeves and forged pistons and rods that made 460whp. That ends up being well over 500hp at the crank and they used stock sleeves. The crank like Pete said is forged stock and if you some how find a way to mess up the crank in a major way you need to move on to another make of car because stock cranks have been proven at over 600whp.

If i go to a tuner shop they just want me to buy the most expensive of course cuz thats how they get their money..
Believe me, the profit margins of you buying a $2000 B16a and a $3200 B18c1 are not much different. actually, a shop would make way more money off of selling you all the internals than a full GSR swap.

Yeah, on a car built to make 5 passes and be affordable enough to give away if it lost. Im betting none of their street cars have 400+ on stock sleeves. for a reason.

Sleeves are not a weak point on honda engines and 300whp can be had with a turbo setup and a set of forged rods only on a D series.
