Cheapest way to get to 200hp
I have a 97 ex [d16y8] with 151k miles on it. I want to know if it would be cheaper to rebuild the internals and turbo it to 200hp or just do an h22a swap with stiffer shocks to counter some of the weight problems it would cause. Also keep in mind I have to pay labor for the swap or internal work. Thanks to anyone that can help!

the internals and turbo imo. Really it depends on how good of a deal you can get on the swap.
You can do what im doing if youre patient enough and that is finish all the internals now and enjoy the results while you piece together a kit ala Petes Grocery List. 100 bucks every 4 weeks and im already up to having the manifold, bov, downpipe, and oil feed. Just a thought.
Good luck!

Probly to turbo the d-series. Here are a couple of web sites to look into if you want the h22a. It has a lot of hidden costs, mounts, axles ect. www.JDM****.com, and www.HASport.com.

I'd say 15-20psi , and close to 300whp if you go forged, 15 psi and a good tune could net you in the 200-250 range. If it was me i would turbo what i have and run 6-7psi till it gave up then upgrade. 6-7 psi should get you close to 200hp at the flywheel.

there was a link to jeff evans tuning, he has a completely internally stock d16z6 and is pushing 375whp so 200 is very possible on a stock engine there are a lot of people doing it, the secret is in the tuning
