Default B16a JDM....WANNA MAKE 200HP!

Hi guys. i am kind of new to the forum. jus wanted a few suggestions or advice if possible. i have a 97 civic hatch with a JDM b16a swap. i have a few bolt ons like CAI, catback exhaust and planning on gettin a sum headers. my question is can i make 200hp the N/A way with this engine? i researched the engine and it already has 170hp from the factory. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. THANX!

sure it is possible, but it is gonna cost ya. even tho the engine comes with 170hp stock that is not whp. whp is what mattters and stock it is probably around 150whp. i am not sure if you can even reach that hp mark without tearing into the block and upping the compression.

If you mean 200 whp, good luck. If you mean 200 FWHP, then you stand a chance. Big cams, raise compression to about 12:1 a few bolt-ons and tuned with Hondata. it isnt going to be cheap though.

The B16 engine is a better engine to boost as opposed to going all motor. if you wanted to go all motor you should have chose a B18C5 or an H22. Anyway these are just a few of the things you will need: high compression pistons, might as well get rods, stage 2 maybe even 3 cams, valves, valve springs, hondata s300, injectors, a great tune. it is going to get expensive not only in parts but in labor. you can make more power at a cheaper cost if youjust boost it.

you are all correct, but i think he meant 200bhp which is quite achievable at a fair price. On top of your current parts you'll need some 11:1 pistons, adecat to complement your exhaust and someSkunk2 stage 1 cams. A skunk2 or equivalent intake manifold would also help as well as an aftermarket exhaust header but these arent essential. It is quite doable on a JDM B16 because it is only an extra 30bhp and your helped by the fact that it runs on high octane fuel.

If you wanted n/a from the start then a B series wasnt the most cost-effective choice. As said previously an H22A would have been cheaper and more tunable n/a. 220bhp is quite achievable with mostly OEM type-s parts. This would be really fast if combined with a B series transmission using an H2B kit

a decat to complement your exhaust
don't do that. get a high-flow cat.
