Default To Swap or Not To Swap?

Should I go with an engine swap or should I go with keeping the one I have now? That is the question. I have a 2000 ex with a non VTEC 1.6L. Please gimme some suggestions. I have about $1500 to work with.

With about 1500 the best motor for the price assuming 1500 is just what you have to spend on the motor and not the install and such, I think your going to be able to buy the 1.6 vtec version of your motor. It may be more cost effecient to keep the motor you have now, and prep it for a turbo. You may even be able to find a used turbo for less than that, and run the car on low boost for good hp numbers, it will be fast and fun to drive, and turbo!

You won't really get much of anything for $1500 as far as a swap goes. My advice would be do a mini-me head swap and then piece together a mild turbo setup and tune for 200 whp with your stock internals.
