RE: 1997 honda civic d15b swap troubles
got one more question for ya... if i use the z6 head will i have to cut a new whole in the head for the head bolt to line up?? cuz i was just gonna use the y8 head on there but it was a bit different. is it gonna be the same case with the z6 head or should it just bolt on?? i know u have to take the plug out of the d15b block so the oil will cycle through. but i was just wondering if it will bolt up? thanks for the help by the way

i have a quick question? did you swap for the d15b's ecu when you did that swap? that could cause a rev limiter at 4500rpms if you are still using stock

RE: 1997 honda civic d15b swap troubles
i think i am using the d15b non v tech but on the back left side of the head there is a spot that looks like its suposed to have a v tech cylinoyd bolted on but someone had bolded on a plate in its place. i kinda wonder if its the v tech engine but someone has removed the v tech im not sure but the spark plugs i think are in the back of the valve cover

RE: 1997 honda civic d15b swap troubles
I have a similar situation. I should pre-face this by saying I really don't know all of what I did in the swap. I put a D15B into my 1994 civic dx. I bought the ecu for the new motor, also. I have only the original distributor (TD-41U, I need the TD-42U)and of course it dosent fit, but if Iget it aligned and it will start. The motor did idle at first but will not idle anymoreand I have to hold the gas in a slight bit for it to run, once I push in the gasanymore or if I let go it will stall. It sounds like it is out of timing everytime I push the gas in a bit just before it DOES stall.
I am thinking it is the distrubutor since it is not for the vtec SOHC, but I can't be too sure of that. As far as I know I got all the wiring together correctly, that might not sound too confident but I really think I did my homework on that part.
Is it only the distributor?
Could it be the ecu?
Could it be the wiring?
Thanks in advance Ive been waiting about 4 years to get this car going and it finally got it started today.
