I have a 96 civic hx and I think my head has issues so I plan to replace it with a re-manufactured one. I was reading up on the head codes and am a it confused about a few things. First it seems that the d16y5 (hx)and d16y8 (ex) have the same head code - how can that be since the hx has the vtec-e? I just want to make sure i get the correct head and am concerned that perhaps the previous owner did some mods to it to upgrade from the stock vtec-e to standard vtec perhpas by using a d16y8 head. My head code says p2j-2. Would appreciate any information!
