Question Acceleration pedal stacks

I have '98 Civic LX.
The acceleration pedal feels hard from time to time and this really bothers me. It happened right after I bought the car a year ago. I thought is does it because the car was not driven fro a while. Now after a year is doing it again.
Friend of mine told me that might be the steel wire, which goes to the throttle body. I have it from Honda.
Should this be the problem and how to find out?
Thanx in advance!

It is possible it is the throttle cable. Disconnect the cable from the thorttle body, move the throttle with you rhand to feel if the throttle body itself is sticking. If not, with the throttle cable disconnected from the tb, go under the dash and grab the throttle cable under there and pull the wire, if you have resistance your cable is corroded and needs to be replaced.
