Fatigue is the major cause of connecting rod failure. At Carrillo Industries, we use proprietary steel, manufactured and forged to our own custom specifications. After experimenting with virtually every other reasonable material, we have found this chromium / nickel / vanadium / molybdenum FORGED alloy to be the best product to meet our stringent requirements for strength and durability.

B18C is a B16B with a longer stroke for more displacement.
Much smaller piston dome displacement too.

Before you do anything, you have to decide how fast and how much money you really want to put into this project. If you want to jus build a fast and fun daily driver and not planning to make over 400hp on boost or 250 on all motor, then the b16A block is fine. If you want to make more power, I would suggest using an LS or GSR bottom end to start with a better foundation. It will have a bigger displacement to start with and thats better in the long run.

the B16 can make power as well, but from experience, if you have goals of a high hp all motor or make over 500hp turbo, the b16 is not the easiest choice to make.

Id' like to help more, before you spend a dime on anything. Feel free to email me or discuss it furtheron the forum for more input.

yah... my goal is 400hp. i was thinking about gettin a gsr bottom. but wasnt too sure. so far im thinkin about port and polish. dunno much about rods and pistons. sleeve a gsr bottom. turbo cams, skunk2 cam gears. skunk2 intake and tb 70mm. and i guess a greddy turbo.

ya you need to sleeve at a goal of 400hp. I would suggest the GSR bottm end if possible, but if not, at least the LS for an LS/VTEC setup.

Cams: no need for aftermarket cams on turbo setups. we make over 700hp on stock GSR cams.
