Saw this head on eBay and the guy says he has no idea what it is.???

My guess is a z6? I dunno, looks older.

looks like the d15z1 vtec-e from the intake ports and valve cover

 

Huh, well it has the same vlave cover as this z6, but i dunno maybe they put this VC on different engines

they usualy put the vtec on the d16z6's and just the honda logos on the d15z1

now look at the difference between the z6 head that i showed you and the first pic you put up.

 

my 95 civic ex coupe is an d16z6 and it do not have the black cover. it's just a metal cover with the honda vtec logo.

 

thats a d15z1 with the vtec e, cause it doesnt have the lost motion assembly ontop of the camshaft, the vtec e has these spring like things between the cams insted of the lost motion asembly on top, oh and the intake ports are a slightly different from a z6
