Default b 16 swap

i have a 99 civic ex which has a d16y8 vtec and im thinking about swapping it for a b16 or going the other route and putting the turbo on my d16


any suggestions and what price range would i be looking at for the turbo and the swap

cheaper to turbo, plus you'll make more power with a turbo D16 than a stock B16

It depends on a lot of factors but you can expect numbers right around there. Also parts for d16s seem to be a little cheaper and easier to come by. For turbo parts check my for sale thread in my signature.

im just trying to make it fast not a track car obviously. so what else would i get to add hp after a turbo

B16 swap is way overrated. A GSR engine rips, so does an H22, or a turbocharged d16y8 would rip too. If you go boost though, get a compression test to check your engine's shape, then research your *** off and don't boost before you know as much as you can. Read the stickies in the Forced Induction section for loads of good info about boost.

Also read the info on honda-tech. Maximum Boost by Corky Bell is an AWESOME book to read. I know a lot of people on this forum have researched for months before they boost. I've researched for about 5 or 6 and I still dont know a whole lot about it
