Default Bad Surge!

Please could someone help, Have a 1995 lsi hatchback. The engine surges all the time! When you have the car just out of gear ticking over the revs move from 500 to 1500rpm! Sometimes its a bit lower maybe 800 to 1100rpm but its constantly surging!

Also it you sit and rev the car to 3000rpm the engine drops from 3000rpm to 2500rpm then back all the time!!!!!!!

Please could someone help cos I love my car but its worrying!

Thankyou!!

sounds like a gasket or (more likely) a vac problem. check your vac lines and gaskets.

i had the problem at idle but never at higher reves, cause it was linked to higher temps so when ir really warmed up it stoped, but i just replaced the HG so ill see if that helps, and the other thing for me was it wasnt all the time, only one in a while
