Fram filters are garbage no matter which way you use them. There's a reason they're like 2 dollars a piece. Cut one open and you'll quickly see why a lot of people stay away from them. They're mostly cardboard and they're made very very cheaply. Also, they have a real tendency to make the gasket stick to the oil filter mounting boss, and I've actually seeing them cause CEL's for low oil pressure.

I guess millions of Americans feed their cars cardboard then.

I have alway used Castrol, I run the synthetic blend(car has 163K). I did not know that Fram filters where junk I have almost always used them. I will switch to a better filter may be Moble1 or K&N.

Default Mobil 1 + filter

Been using Mobil 1 with the Mobil 1 filter for the past 70K in my '95 Civic, D15B7. I change the filter every 6K, top the oil off, then drain the oil + fresh filter every 12K. At 189K, runs perfectly, cams still look brand new, no smoke and doesn't burn oil. Also have K&N cone filter on a cold air intake pipe. Clean & re-oil it once a year.

Nice move. I think royal purple is one of the best brands out there. On a show called horsepower (on spike) they did a test between royal purple and some other top brand (i forgot, sorry) and royal purple gave you like 10-15 more HP!!
