you could do the rest of your build and do the cam later. Funny i doing the exact same build myself!! Should make some good power!

actually a ton of econo-boxes have huge aftermarket support. its just that everyone hates the D17. its not good for high compression ratios and its deffinately not good for boost.

Well it is okay for boost, but the tune has got to be that much better, and some bottom end work is definetly necessary. Its just so much easier to boost any other honda motor.

well the thing is, its the same bore as the y8 and z6 (ect.) but it has a longer stroke, making it less square and less boost-friendly.

Crower DOES make a cam for the D17, they also make rods, talk to sam@missionspeed I think he quoted $375 for the camshaft. Might wanna think about valvetrain if you are gonna do up the camshaft, KMS makes a valvetrain for the D17, haven't heard any reviews about it though. There are no specific D17 intake manifold, but swaps can be done, easiest would be an OEM y8 but if you have some money a Venom or any other short runner IM for the y8 will fit with a lil work.
